INTERVIEW: AL B SURE
1. You have been out of the spotlight for quite some time. New music is finally on the way.
What have you been doing to keep yourself busy when not making music?
ABS: I have been behind the scenes developing Film & TV properties, working on my new CD titled Honey I'm Home being release June 23rd www.HiddenBeach.com/AlBSure , writing a book "From Mt. Vernon to the Moon & Back", a film titled "The Hit" feat: Blair Underwood, James Russo (The God Father) as well as hosting 3 radio shows including www.SlowJams.com 24 Hours of Slow Jams.
2. Your new album is titled "Honey I'm Home". How did you come up with this title?
ABS: I came of with the title "Honey I'm Home" because I've been away a while as well as I made it a perfect gift for someone to show up at the door with and its your ticket in Lol.
3. Who wrote and produced the lead single "I Love It (Papi Aye, Aye, Aye)"?
ABS: Al B. Sure! & Kyle West Break It Down
4. Are you going to be doing any shows or have plans to tour to support the new album?
ABS: Absolutely, we will have all appearances and info at www.HiddenBeach.com/albsure
5. Your latest single has that silky, suave sound that we all have grown to love about your music. Will there be a music video to go along with the song? Placing a visual with the audio.
ABS: Absolutely there will be a video but I want to do something different related to a visual piece so stay tuned.
6. What can fans expect with the new album? Is it all R&B? Any Special Guests? etc
ABS: I wanted to stick with what I know and drive in my lane as well as mix up the different genres of music and polish it with my sound. Special guests include Hip-Hop Chi town street legend "VI", Paul Pesco and the world renown Cellist Tina Guo
7. If an artist of todays modern music were to do a cover of "Off On Your Own Girl" who can you imagine doing it and why?
ABS: Choosing an artist to remake your work is not an easy decision but if forced to choose one I'd have to say Justin Timberlake because he seems to have mastered the art of establishing "e-motion in song," has a broad appeal and is killing the smooth "falsetto" like a vet.
8. Do you like listening to your own albums? What are your favorite songs?
ABS: I only listen to my work (myself and others I've produced) while scrolling through radio station but traditionally I won't pull out the cassettes and vinyl to go down memory lane Lol.
9. If you were to collaborate with an artist and/or producer of todays music. Who would you choose and why?
ABS: I would love to collaborate with Stevie Wonder as an artist & Neo as a producer because between the both the outcome would be "Melodic Bliss!"
10. What do you think of the digital world versus the old school vinyl releases? Are you for it or against it?
ABS: Digital vs Vinyl, I'd have to say vinyl due to its warm sound and feel but now with the advances in technology there are plug-ins that replicate the warm feel of analog. I recorded my new "Honey I'm Home" digitally but made sure to process the final mixes through warm tube compression and mastering. If fact you can hear a sample at www.HiddenBeach.com/albsure . Enjoy and many blessings.
